80 Year Anniversary Catholic Church

Christ the King Catholic Church’s Milestone Celebration – Sunday 26 November 2017

This iconic church was officially opened 80 years ago on the Feast Day of Christ the King, which is the name of the parish, and celebrations were held on Sunday, November 26, 2017.
The statue of Christ the King was carried around the yard as is done every year, and down to the recently refurbished church hall where the focal point of the day was a display of historic and current photographs, information and morning tea.

Father John Kennedy

Beth Staunton who has been a member of the parish for more than 60 years and was married in the church in 1960, was invited to cut the commemorative cake, made by Whitney Barber.
The centrepiece on the cake was a hand painted cardboard model of the church, made by Joenard Borondia.
