School Library Opened at Tennant Creek
JUBILEE EFFORT COMMENDED Tributes to the work of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie J. Hokin, of Tennant Creek School, and to the efforts of the people of the district, were paid by the Supervisor of Education for the Northern Territory (Mr. W. V. Leach) on Wednesday night of last week when the Tennant Creek School’s Jubilee library was formally opened. Mr. Leach himself performed the ceremony. Prior to the opening, those present (numbering nearly 80) were entertained with films on the school’s talkie equipment, and after Mr. Leach had declared the library open a social and ‘get-together’ completed a most enjoyable evening. In Alice Springs this week both Mr. Leach and the Inspector of Schools (Mr. Dodd) said that they were delighted’ with the effort which had been put into the establishment of the Tennant Creek school library. Mr. Dodd said that he considered it to be an example to all other schools in the Territory. He also congratulated Mrs. W. Fullwood, representing the Tennant Creek C.W.A., on the cooperative spirit shown in the presentation of a sewing machine to the school.
